'Western Balkans go dance' - Summer 2023

This project marks the first occasion in which the WBYO went through its residency and concert tour as a full size symphonic orchestra with some 65 musicians. For "WB Go Dance" the orchestra opened the rows for musicians from 15 different countries. There were musicians from the 6 non-EU Western Balkan countries, their neighboring countries and member states of the EU: Albania, Belgium, Bosnia and Hercegovina, Croatia, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Kosovo, Lithuania, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Russia, Serbia, Spain and Turkey.

WBYO presented the region’s favorite dances, in combination with well-known dances by Brahms, Kodaly, Khachaturian and Shostakovich. Favorite (folk) dances from Albania, Bosnia and Hercegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Serbia were arranged by young composers/arrangers from the region as part of the First Open Call for Composition.

After a two weeks preparation phase in Durrës, the symphonic orchestra with 65 young, talented musicians gave concerts in the following cities:
